Internet Domain Services Limited is a privately owned, UK company, established in 2002.
All Internet Domain Services infrastructure is located in data centers around the world with on-site 24/7 technical staff available who are fully trained to deal with any eventuality. However, despite having high availability systems and Service Level Agreements in place with all our infrastructure providers, we recognise that hardware faults and outages can and will occur regardless of human effort. For this reason, we ensure that all web hosting, database and e-mail servers are backed up every night, to separate storage units. Should a major failure occur resulting in an irretrievable loss of data, the previous nights back up are immediately accessed and placed on standby systems.
All Internet Domain Services infrastructure is built on bandwidth and systems 100% dedicated to us. For this reason, we can ensure that at no time are any of our servers or bandwidth shared by other providers or users. Furthermore, we do not charge data transfer fees, as most of our clients consider this difficult to manage within fixed budgets. We do, however, ask that if clients have a higher than average bandwidth requirement, that they contact us to discuss a more suitable solution. If our monitoring systems indicate a high usage, we will contact our clients to discuss this issue, but WILL NOT suspend services as many other service providers automatically do.
For DNS services, (the lookup of domains names to server IP addresses), our network infrastructure is geographically redundant as recommended in RFC 2182. If an outage were to occur in one location, our network would seamlessly keep running via the alternate server locations.
Our Website
The Internet Domain Services website is designed to be quick and easy to use. Clients may check the availability of domain names prior to registration and select the products and services required via our secure, fully transactional Account Admin system. We do, however, recommend that if you are looking to register bulk domains or are looking for a fully managed service, that you contact us directly so an Account Manager can be allocated to deal with all your needs.
Technical Support
All clients are automatically subscribed to our free-of-charge bronze support service. This provides basic Monday-Friday, 0830-1630 GMT, technical support. Before logging a support ticket, please take a look, since many customers come to us with the same or similar questions, of which we try to put the most common ones, (and their solutions), into this section for easy access.
Network Monitoring
All network data centre facilities are monitored and manned by technical personnel 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. In the event of an anomaly or error, an Internet Domain Services Systems Administrator is immediately alerted.
Additionally, our automated network monitoring systems constantly check the status of all our systems, and automatically alert and escalate any potential faults.
